day 2 after IntraLASIK Correction eye surgery!!!

although this might look painful, there is NO PAIN, the redness is just bruising from the suctions they use to keep your eye still during surgery!!

Adopted......poor little things!

Well.......although these little ones are beyond cute this is a sad story!!! Today when travelling home from the farm a mother duck decided to cross the road......right in front of me!!! She was slightly ahead of the ducklings leaving a gap betwwen them. In order for me to miss her, I would have had to hit them.....it was sickening........I knew the out come wasn't going to be good!!! I tried to get her between the tires, and miss the little ones to the left..........but my plan didn't work, I knew when I went over her she was under the vehicle(between the tires).

I turned around as quick as I could, went back to see what had happened. Sadly the mother, and one little one were hit(and of course killed), I'm guessing she tried to fly up when the vehicle was over top of her.

Okay, so now there are 7-8 little ducks running off the road, then back to their mother, then off to the side again........not pretty! I shuffled them off the road, and scooped them up in my hands all at once..........they are very small.

So I get them to my vehicle, and now what I have to open the door. So I set them down thinking I will just pick them up again, and get them inside. I get the door opened, and they start to scatter..........I managed to grab four, and get them inside........the others ran...........as I'm looking under the vehicle one falls out..........so now I only have 3 inside.

One runs to the left side of the road, and 3(or maybe 4)ran to the other side..........I was one step behind them, and could see them running in the grass........do you think I could catch them.............NO........I literally cannot believe how those little farts can run in the grass, and how hard it is to see them when they are in the tall grass!!!

I could hear pepping all over........to the left, to the right, behind me, in front of me..........crazy!!!

What the hell am I going to do............

So I decided to empty out a cloth bag I had, put the captured ones in it, and place the bag in the grass so they could peep to each other(thinking maybe they would come to the bag)!!! It worked(a bit), I could here them, see them now and again, and but couldn't catch them........man that was frustrating!

Being on and off the phone with Daryl trying to figure out to do, he thought maybe if I brought the mother duck to the place where the peeps were they might come to the her. So I went and got her out of the ditch, and set her, and bag of babies together near the peeping!! After about 5 minutes one did come, and I did capture it...............so now I have four!!!

After trying for 2 hours to catch 3(maybe 4)little ducks I decided it was time to give up........tough call!!!

By the time I left I couldn't here anymore peeping........not sure if they wandered away, or if they were exhausted and were laying down for a sleep.........either way I was done!!!!

They seem to be doing pretty good........I'm sure they are not more than a day or two old..........tiny, tiny.......sweet, sweet.......poor little things!!!

A shot of FAMILY HISTORY

This is basically a picture test..............we(Mom's family)are in the process of carrying out an agreement that is in place regarding Grandpa E's diaries. After being in safe keeping(at Mom's)for many years(approx. 15)they will soon be turned over to the Alberta Archives(at the Provincial Museum). It has been decided that we will take photos of each page, of each diary, and save them to some type of file/copy.........quite the undertaking as there are 11 x 5 year diaries that are complete and one that has 2 years in it.......in total 57 years!!!!

The plan is to have 3-4 camera's going and someone to flip pages for each camera. Snapping with a turner should go pretty fast..........and we should finish in a couple of hours!!!! The time comsuming part will be saving/sorting/copying........but it will be a relief to get it done!!!

Here is a sample of what we(Daryl & I)did on the weekend for a test, just to be sure taking pictures would work well!

A not very exciting 5 days..........PERFECT, just want I was hoping for!!!!

I guess I have to take that back, there was some excitement.....but overall it was a VERY relaxing week!!!

Hope I have this straight........Betty let me know if it's out of whack!

Day 1-Sat. June 28th
Pretty much a right off, got to the lake 5ish, sat around the fire relaxing. Was a bit nervous about our neighbors...........a group of young people(12-14 of them)in tents..........oh boy what are we in for??? In the end it wasn't bad at all..........they partied quietly, never kept us up, thank goodness!! This is the night we had the exctiement............Evan's quad was stollen from Mini Lake!!! Daryl & Lori had just left the lake and then the boys(Adam, Evan, & Kyle)showed up looking for Daryl & Lori(they must have just missed them). Anyway, poor Evan, he was VERY upset about this............and there was nothing we could do!!!! They got a hold of Daryl & Lori on the cell phone while they were at the lake, and off they went!!! Off to bed we went!!!

Day 2-Sun. June 29th
Went to Daryl & Lori's to see if there was any news about the quad...........as it turned out they had a pretty crazy night with the boys which amounted to very little sleep.................but no news on the quad!!! As we were sitting having coffee Sherri S. phoned and said the quad was found.........oh my did the mood change in the house..........REAL FAST!!! Off we went with Daryl & Lori to pick it up, the boys were at the lake so they met us there!!! All was good, the quad was in good shape, no damage, helmet was still on it.............strange story of which we still don't know what, when, why, and how it went missing!!! In the end they are not sure if it was stolen, or a prank was being pulled...............jury is still out on that one!!! Off Betty & I went to Jackfish lake to Auntie Bertha's family campout......our visit was short & sweet, and while we were there I was lucky enough to hold a 16 day old baby..........loved that!!!! On the way back to Glendon we stopped at Grandma's K's farm...........even though it's abandon, empty, silent I do get a peacefull feeling when I go there.........not sure what it is, can't really explain it...........maybe I feel close to them(G & G)when I am at their home/farm???


Wow.........were there ever a TON of bees at these hives!!! Look close at the one with the black on it............that's a swarm of bees.......Betty said don't get to close........I said, ya, doubt I can out run bees, so I turned back and got in the car!!!

All I have to say is Grandma would not be happy with this sight........she fought tooth and nail to not have this on her farm!! In the end she realized she couldn't really do nothing about it, they(the oil/gas companies)would get in the ground one way or another............and she finally signed the papers(against her better judgement)!


A barn on the Bonnyville Lacorey road..........seen many times before, just never took the time to stop and take pictures.......this time I/we did!!! A bit over exposed(bright sun), but I like it anyway!!!

Headed to Bonnyville to see Baba, had a good visit! Brought her an ice cream cone from DQ, she just loves that!!! She was great, talking, laughing, answering the phone, giving instructions to pass on to Gido(don't go to the garden in the middle of the day when it's hot, LOL, she knows he won't listen)!!! (maybe this was the 30th)

North we went(Wolf lake bound), called Auntie Ellen to see if we could stop for coffee.........she said yes, as she always does(I always seem to give her such short notice, but she always has a pleasant........come on over reply)!!!

Love her yard/garden, it's so peaceful at their place!!!

Day 5-Weds. July 2nd

In the morning we went to Bonnyville to take Emily shopping for her birthday party stuff, get a Birthday cake, some corn, went for lunch, then heading back to the lake to pack up!
In afternoon Daryl moved the 5th wheel down to Mini Lake where Emily was going to have her birthday party. That evening we had a super for Jeep's birthday, and included a few other July birthdays, Emily(the 4th), Mom(the 8th), and Evan(the 15th)!!!



Day 6-Thurs.-homeward bound with one of Abby's pups!

1. Lots of Birthdays
2. Trying to make the most of the summer days.........THEY DON'T LAST LONG!!!(before long we will be back to freezin' our butts off)!
3. Getting new wheels.......FINALLY!
4. Daylan is working HARD......2 jobs(one full time/one part time)!
5. I need to paint(around the house....in & out)!
6. Waiting for Daylan's FINAL high school report card to arrive(mail)......????........will it spell Rutherford(scholarship)?
7. Lovin' my yard!

Daniel will head out at 4:30 a.m(to Kalispell Montana)..........off to get the new wheels!!!

We will soon be the proud owners of a Subaru Tribeca(2007...I believe)!
